This beautiful 17th century hamlet has its own special and unique atmosphere - a wonderfully quiet and peaceful place in which to relax and unwind, away from the stresses of modern life.

Carefully renovated over the years to a very high standard, the hamlet retains all its orginal character and charm. Each cottage is extremely comfortable and spacious, and fully equipped with everything you need for a great holiday.

To ensure you enjoy your stay, we try to provide as many of the "little things that matter" as possible - from comfortable beds and soft fluffy towels, to freshly baked croissants delivered daily to your door.

All the cottages are detached (except Le Puits) and very individual. They each have their own garden and BBQ area, ideal if you are renting one cottage and want your own peace and quiet.

Le Gohic is also perfect for large groups who want to book exclusive use of the whole hamlet. Enjoy the privacy of your own cottage with your friends or family just next door. One of the cottages (L'Ecurie) has a 40ft long, open plan living area which can be rearranged so that everyone can eat together "en famille".

Having exclusive use of the whole hamlet is great fun for house parties, family reunions, birthdays or anniversary celebrations, fishing, golf, cycling or walking groups, clubs and associations, corporate awaydays etc.

In the grounds, there is a 11m x 7m heated outdoor swimming pool with roman steps. The depth is 1.2m overall. The pool is cleaned daily and heated to a comfortable 27 degrees. Open from early May until end of September (or longer if the weather stays warm - in 2006 and 2007 the pool was open until after October half term).

Around the pool is a large sunbathing deck area (which stays in the sun all day) with plenty of comfortable loungers and parasols.

The pool area is fenced and conforms to the new safety regulations, ensuring peace of mind for parents with toddlers.

Elsewhere in the grounds, there are lots of big, open, grassy areas where children can play safely without disturbing the other guests.

You will also find outdoor table tennis, a football pitch, grass badminton and a boules pitch, as well as swings, a climbing net and a sandpit for younger children.

In the games room, there is table football and snooker, lots of board games, and a 'den' with armchairs and CD player for older children.

For golfers, there is a practise net tucked away in a quiet corner of the grounds.

Bicycles are available (free of charge) for exploring the local country lanes.

There is a large, separate car parking area, keeping the hamlet car-free and unspoilt, and safe for children.

All other modern day paraphenalia, such as satellite TV dishes, are kept discreetly out of sight, helping to maintain the hamlet's special atmosphere, and keep it looking as it did hundreds of years ago.

The peaceful atmosphere helps to attract a large number of "visitors" including pine martens, red squirrels, roe deer, hedgehogs, foxes, wall voles, stoats, hares, buzzards, owls, kestrels, green and black woodpeckers, nightjars and many other wild birds.

Le Gohic lies down a long private drive in quiet and tranquil countryside, amongst green rolling hills and lush wooded valleys.

However, the hamlet is not at all isolated and there is an abundance of picturesque towns and villages close by.

Just a leisurely stroll down the lane is the local bar and creperie where you will receive a very warm welcome from Isobelle and Marina. Their crepes are absolutely delicious and people come from miles around to eat at this friendly restaurant.

The little village of Quistinic with boulangerie, chemist, mini-supermarket, post office and bars is three kilometres away.

The nearest town, Baud, has a larger choice of shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and banks, and is an easy fifteen minute drive.

The bigger town of Pontivy is 20 minutes away and the modern city of Lorient, is 25 minutes drive.

The nearest recommended sandy beach for children is just 30 minutes away at Port Louis.

Five minutes further on, you will find an abundant choice of beautiful white sandy beaches, fashionable seaside resorts and secluded rocky coves. The photo above is of the Cote Sauvage, great for surfers.

Some of the most popular beach areas include Carnac, La Trinite Sur Mer, Larmor Plage and Guidel.

The photo (left) shows one of the many beaches dotted around Quiberon Penisula.

Apart from busy areas, such as Carnac in the height of summer, the beaches never get crowded and are very unspoilt & clean.

cottages southern brittany #10Five minutes from Le Gohic, is the River Blavet, beautifully quiet and hardly used. Here you will find some of the best coarse fishing in Brittany with a good choice of fish including bream, pike, sander, carp, salmon and trout. Permits are available locally.

If you prefer walking or cycling, you can follow the river towpath for many miles, stopping at the occasional bar or cafe along the way.

The whole Blavet Valley area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths and cycle routes, and we can provide maps and guides to help you get the best out of them.

And if you are bringing your dog on holiday, there are plenty of good walks in the surrounding forests.

cottages southern brittany #11There are five beautiful 18-hole golf courses all within easy driving distance.

Plus, there is a 9-hole course only ten minutes away.

We are very happy to book tee times for you.

There is a golf practice net at Le Gohic

Your visit will not be complete without a trip to the stunning Golfe du Morbihan, and its 365 islands. Take a cruise around this vast inland sea, stopping off where and when you want.
You can also hire sail boats, motorcruisers or kayaks to explore the wonderful beaches, inlets and creeks.

cottages southern brittany #13Further inland, there are many historic towns, villages and castles to visit including Vannes, Josselin, Rochefort, Malestroit, Auray, Hennebont and Quimper - all within easy driving distance.

Wander their narrow cobbled streets and discover hidden alley ways crowded with atmospheric bars and tiny shops selling unusual gifts and crafts.

Nearly every day of the week you will find a local market where you can sample the best local produce: seafood (especially oysters & crevettes), crepes, cheeses, honey, locally grown fruit & vegetables and wonderful patisserie.

Throughout the year, there are regular antique markets, flea markets and the French equivalent of car boot sales 'Vide Grenier' (attic clearout). These are great places to find some interesting collectables or just something very different and very french.

There are plenty of restaurants in the area covering all tastes and price brackets, from pizzas cooked in wood-fired ovens to a Michelin two star restaurant: L'amphitryon. It goes without saying that the local food is excellent, especially the seafood!
